Job Description:
Christ Church, St. Peter's Parish, Easton, Maryland, a dynamic and growing Episcopal church on the beautiful Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, is actively seeking a talented and motivated individual for the position of Minister of Music. We are committed to the understanding that worship is the principle work of the church; therefore this is not a job - this is a calling.

This position is currently part time, and will be best considered as an interim step to a full time ministry. We are seeking a candidate who is a gifted musician with experience developing and leading combos in worship services. Currently we use a mixture of hymnody, praise music, and some rock music, but we desire to move increasingly to a more contemporary service on Sundays. Therefore the successful candidate will have a demonstrable passion for current contemporary music and worship. Being able to read music is very important; a degree in music would add significantly to ones consideration; enjoying your work and knowing how to have fun with it is essential. Proficiency on keyboard or other appropriate instrument for musical accompaniment of a contemporary band and choir is required.

We seek someone with a mature commitment to Christ who is able to bring the profound power of music to life as a proclamation of the Gospel and, through this medium, to inspire those who come to worship with joy, grace, hope, and glory. We seek someone equally enthusiastic about bringing people to the knowledge and love of God, and who is able to facilitate this through relevant, beautiful, and compelling worship experiences.

The position includes the opportunity to work with an established combo and singing group at 9:15am Sundays, and strengthen it, as well as the challenge of continuing to build attendance at this liturgical and modestly contemporary Sunday service. We seek someone particularly excited about the prospect of developing and establishing another and alternative worship service on a day and at a time to be determined. Our evangelical goal is to continue to reach people with the living Gospel of Christ and grow the church by virtue of various ministries, but particularly through the development of new worship venues. Our intent is to make this part-time position a full-time ministry in the future, concurrent with the growth and viability of the new service.

We offer a competitive salary for this part-time ministry. This is a staff position and works in cooperation with the full-time Director of Music as well as the Rector of the Church.
