Job Description:
The Director of Sanctuary Services at Church of the Lakes UMCbr>The position affords a full-time schedule with the luxury of flexible hours for any given workweek. Important Characteristics of the position include: A Christ-like spirit of acceptance, warmth and conviction,

A role model for children, youth and adults seeking to grow in their Christian faith.
Ability to equip volunteers to serve in music ministry.
Qualifications
1) A college degree (music, music education, music ministry preferred)
2) Appropriate references and background checks
3) Experience in directing choral music
4) Administrative and organizational skills
Major Responsibilities
1. The overall planning, selection, rehearsing and directing of music and liturgy for all regular Sanctuary worship services (currently 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.) and special worship services as requested by the Senior Pastor.
2. Multiple choir program development and operation including duties as conductor and accompanist coordination; recruit, train, direct and support members of the various choirs. Choirs under the direction/supervision of the Director are: Adult Chancel Choir – 11:00 a.m., Adult Sanctuary Choir – 8:30 a.m., Adult Hand bell Choir, Youth Hand bell Choir, Children's Chimes, Lakeshore Choir and the Brass Ensemble. The Director of Sanctuary Services should also be involved in the selection and management of the Children's Choir Coordinator.
3. Planning and guidance for continuing development and maintenance of the music library.
4. Coordinate and supervise the maintenance and care for all musical equipment, supplies and other assets which can be expected to be used by any choir program under the direction of the Director.
5. Participate in worship committee meetings and serve as a resource person to provide the best environment for worship.
.6. Annually submit a budget to the pastor and the finance committee, which covers expenses related to the various choral needs.
9. Attend quality continuing education events in music ministry. A budget will be set up for attendance at these events and seven days will be allocated.
10. Arrange for any outside music ministries as requested.
11. Provide spiritual guidance/inspiration via weekly emails or individual meetings as needed.
Supervision
The Director of Music Ministries for Sanctuary Services is responsible to the senior pastor for weekly guidance. The Employment of the Director is the responsibility of the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
Compensation Package:
