Job Description:
Crossroads Church, located in the far north suburbs of Chicago, is seeking a new Associate Pastor for Music Ministries. Crossroads follows a "blended worship" format, by which we seek to take advantage of the best doctrinally faithful and musically appropriate of both traditional and contemporary music of the church, in similar proportions, in accordance with the principle of Matthew 13:52.
The Associate Pastor for Music Ministries will report directly to the Senior Pastor and the Board of Elders.
By the grace of God (John 15:5), the Associate Pastor will: be used of the Lord to lead the congregation in true- and deep-hearted corporate worship of God through music in Sunday AM worship, have familiarity and experience with audio and visual worship technologies, (preferably) have either Masters of Divinity or Masters in Church Music degree, along with some church staff experience in worship leadership in music, possess at least some demonstrable keyboard strengths and some proficiency in the musical instruments typically used in blended worship service formats, and demonstrate an ability to learn and use worship software.
Responsibilities of this position include: assisting the rest of the church staff in weekly worship service planning, providing musical leadership for corporate worship services, preparing the music (vocalists and instrumentalists) and A/V teams well for Sunday AM worship, building and leading a choir for special music occasions (Christmas, Good Friday, etc.) and other celebrations (e.g., some Sunday morning worship services), developing the choir: recruit volunteers, select music, rehearse, conduct, oversee set-up, coordinate fellowship times, lead in prayer, building an orchestra (small in short-term and larger in long-term), providing musical leadership for special worship services and weddings and funerals, leading the Praise Band and vocal team, help oversee Kid's Praise Ministry with the Kid's Praise volunteer director, help develop, as the Lord provides the opportunity, the musical and worship leadership abilities of senior and junior high students, oversee the work of the audio-visual volunteers, including preparation and scheduling, oversee the purchase and maintenance of all music, sound, and video equipment, prepare an annual music ministry budget for the Finance Team, oversee the upkeep of the music library and bookstore ministry, schedule and coordinate visiting music ensembles and concerts, seek to grow in this position, as the Lord would lead, through continuing education, assist the Senior Pastor and elders in other ministry duties, as desired and as assigned.
